Bribie Island with its populated areas and unique bush land, is a vacation paradise for day trippers, retirees, families and anyone looking for an amazing experience. It is home to over 350 species of birds, as well as other wildlife such as dolphins, dugongs, and turtles.

Bribie Island is named after a convict by the name of Bribie who was the first European to establish as settlement on the land. He lived there with an Aboriginal woman until his death.

After the establishment of the road bridge in 1963, Bribie Island’s popularity rose as a vacation destination. Being close to Brisbane is an advantage for the island as many come over for day and weekend holiday trips. However, the island has done little to promote its tourism attraction but remains popular.

Safe beaches abound on Bribie Island with calm waters, picnic areas, playgrounds, and public restrooms. Ferry cruises can be taken and visitors can enjoy game fishing and reef diving tours. Surfers also enjoy Woorim on the eastern shore of Bribie Island.

There are sealed roads available for driving around the island. There are also driving paths along the beaches, accessible only with 4 wheel drive vehicles. There is also bus transportation around the island.

Bribie Island offers the perfect getaway from the big city. Within only an hour, guests can leave Brisbane and find themselves in a seclude island holiday destination. The drive is worth it!
