Great Keppel Island can be found off of the Queensland Coast and offers a tropical paradise for anyone. With a number of activities, it is a fantastic destination for individuals, couples, and families alike.

From the Great Keppel Island Resort for those ages 18-35 to the family resort at Great Keppel Island Holiday Village, there is something for everyone. Great Keppel Island is the largest of the 14 islands in the Keppel group. It is lined with 17 sandy beaches and amazing tropical gardens. In addition, Great Keppel Island boasts well preserved mounds of shells called middens on Long Beach.

The first resort on the island was Silver Sands. It was built in the late 1950s. Another resort called Mecure Resort opened in 1967 and now is the premier resort on Great Keppel Island. It is operated by Accor Asia-Pacific and Contiki.

With a number of lodging options and great eating, this resort is a wonderful way to spend a vacation. They offer a number of free activities as well as optional for-pay activities that guests can choose from. There is something to do at all times on Great Keppel Island.

Twin/Double Rooms – Guests can stay in the “Yellow Cabins” for cabin lodging with a camping feel. This option is perfect for those on a budget or couples in search of a romantic getaway.

Cabins – Accommodating up to four guests, the cabins are located in the gardens and palm trees. Families will especially enjoy this are with private bath facilities and a private veranda.

Dorms – This is the best option for large groups with shared rooms housing up to four people. Most have bunk beds, but double bed rooms are available as well. There are shared bath facilities and a covered area.

Dolphin House – Close to the beach, this is a two bedroom house which can lodge up to six people. There is a living area, full kitchen, and private bathroom as well as a private patio.

Keppel House – This two story house is located in the bush gardens near Fisherman’s Beach. It is a solar powered accommodation for up to six people. It features a lounge area, full kitchen, private bath, veranda, and barbeque facilities.

Bushwalking tours – There are ten walking trails on Great Keppel Island. Guests can view the scenery of the island as well as see wildlife such as goannas and possums.
